A Durham House - Watercolor
This painting represents a period of watercolor paintings that focused on the architecture of the South, capturing the play of light on man’s created environment.
Double Entry II- Watercolor
This piece deals with the abstraction of the architectural form using the play of light as a strong design element.
Fragmented Flower - Acrylic on Paper
This painting was done using acrylic paint in a very transparent manner to layer colors and shapes, creating the impression of the embedded flower forms in an abstract grid.
Within the glass III - Acrylic on Paper
This underwater subject was inspired by the artists 90 gal. salt water aquarium, a constant source of shape, color, texture and movement.
Shell Shapes - Acrylic on Paper
Inspired by the colors and textures of the underwater environment this piece explores these forms in layered and textured acrylic in a more abstract manner. The bubbles suggest life and movement.
Giant Shell- Acrylic on Paper
This companion piece to “Shell Shapes” explores the line and form of the underwater form as a larger format created in layered and textured thin acrylic paint.
The Grand Doorway - Oil on Canvas
This painting represents the artist’s interest in light and shadow. This door was the entrance to the “Hotel Iris” in Perugia, Italy, where she lived and painted one summer. The door opened onto a large terrace where meals were frequently served. The ever moving shadows and ambiance of the European experience were the inspiration for this piece. It also represents the artist’s use of the Oil medium.
